Thrifting Finds

Hey girls! Hope you all had great weekends! DH and I got some home improvements checked off our list and it just feels *so* good. :)

I thought I’d show you some of my finds from the past few days.
Our local Volunteers of America has a 50% sale (on everything) the last Wednesday of the month. Lindsay and I make it a point to go – it’s marked on our calendars!

I found mostly household items that I’d been looking for:

blog 021

- two mini glass bowls
- four more white salad plates (still need white dinner plates)
- a white bowl that matches the ones I bought last weekend (I love it when God lets cool things like that happen!) {forgot to add it in the pic}
- spatula b/c I needed a firmer one
- salad dressing shaker for all my vinaigrettes that I’ve been making
- canister for my poison Splenda (I promise I will give it up someday. I really want to but when you haven’t had real sugar for 5 weeks and 2 days you need a little something to hold you over!)

Plus I found this cute little white shelf to go on my desk to hold a few of my crafting supplies and a wire basket for my kitchen:

I also found a small silver cup to hold our pens by the phone:

However, I totally had a hold-the-phone moment when I walked into the furniture section and spied this desk:

desk 004

Hellloooooo pretty girl! :) It was originally $59.95, then half off – so $29.98!!!!! It is solid wood and I am in looooooove. It looks totally Pottery Barn to me! I know that I will have this desk for years to come - it’s not an antique by any means, but the lines are classic enough that it will be in style for a long time. I try to find pieces of furniture like this for my house; I’m definitely not a mod girl by any stretch of the imagination.

The knobs are a little…eclectic…but that’s no problem for me to pick up a few new ones! desk 007

Here it is with the top down:

desk 008 I am so glad I decided to buy it!

I also had to stop at a church rummage sale on Saturday for their $1 bag sale. My cost was ONE DOLLAR for every item you see left in this post!

blog 017

- white salad plate similar to the ones found at VOA
- sugar holder to add to the “white” collection
- 3 black frames
- One Year Devotions for Moms book (this was an extra 25 cents outside)
- cute mini vintage Christmas ornaments (awesome for filler)

If you’ve clicked over from Finding Fabulous, the rest of my items aren’t house finds. :)

One of my favorite parts of these rummage sales are the great (and sometimes designer) clothes you can find – at basically less than a DIME apiece! You can’t beat that!

blog 003

- cream Isaac Mizrahi cardigan (love!)
- green J. Crew lounge pants (you can never have too many of these!)
- Banana Republic black pants
- wool cardigan from The Limited
- lace shirt from Arden B.
- an incredibly soft Schnauzer shirt (clearly NOT designer) that I just had to pick up as a new bedtime tee. Imagine my husband’s delight when he found out he’d be seeing a lot of this in his future. :)

Yup, I am a satisfied thrifting customer!

{About Work Your Wallet Wednesday: I’m postponing the party until June. I’m hoping maybe more of you will be yard-saling them and will be willing to post pics. Thank you SO much to all of you who have participated thus far – I for one enjoyed seeing what you all found! :) }

  5. Wow! You found so many neat things, it's hard to choose my favorite. But I think it'll have to be that desk. That is an excellent find. As you said you'll use that for many years to come. It looks like it's in great condition. Good for you!
